Leppin's solo debut is a haunting marriage of ambient textural loops and mellifluous chamber pop songwriting. Echoes of Eno, Deradoorian, Lisa Gerrard, Zoë Keating, Julia Kent, Cynthia Dall, Sarah Neufeld, Kaki King's ...UNTIL WE FELT RED, and a touch of 3rd And The Mortal's IN THIS ROOM.
Favorite track: Cast in Gold.
I love the textures and moods that this album creates and can establish. This is a very insular and introspective release. That is not to say, though, that this release is nihilistic or depressing in tone and should be reserved for bad moods or rainy days. I find this music has an ethereal and beautiful quality to it that is life-affirming and warm.
Favorite track: Belly of the Beast.

Mellow Diamond is the solo work of vocalist and avant artist Janel Leppin. She composes songs for analog equipment,
alongside acoustic and electric instruments creating soundscapes interwoven with jagged contemporary jaunts, dream-pop vocal works, Persian classical glimpses, and psychedelic reveries....more
You made my June. I'm not really sure why I love your music so much, but it's just really inspiring that you turned all of these things that happened to you into these jams and ballads. You're brave to process your life and ideas through music and put them out here. I guess many musicians are, but for some reason I didn't really think of it that way until I heard this album. break.light
